2. Baankey Bihariji Mandir
Before you visit this place you need to know the history of it, to appreciate what you see. Sant Haridas was a great devotee of Shri Krishna and regularly sang of his qualities and deeds, and he was able to see Bhagwan Shri Krishna daily because of his bhakti. One day his shishya(students) asked him that they also want to see Bhagwan Shri Krishna. So the Sant sang to Bhagwan Shri Krishna, asking him to give darshan to his students. Bhagwan Shri Krishna came along with Radharani to fulfill his wish. But Haridas said that as he is a Sant, he can manage to serve Shri Krishna but he is unable to serve Radharani. Upon hearing this, Shri Krishna and Radharani merged into one. And that one is Shri Baankey Bihariji, named by Sant Haridas.
The temple was built in 1860 with exquisite Rajasthani craftsmanship. After taking the blessings of Shri Baankey Bihariji, you should take a simple tour of the mandir, to explore and admire the beautiful craftsmanship.
3. Prem Mandir
Prem Mandir was built by Jagatguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj. It has a light show, bhog and musical fountain in the evening. If you are visiting Mathura Vrindavan with your family, it is a must to visit this place.
4. ISKCON Temple
The International Society of Krishna Consciousness is a well-known organization. This temple has been built by them and has a joyful environment. You can learn about the organization also. It is one of the places which are a must if you are in Mathur Vrindavan.
5. Yamuna Aarti
Not many people know but every evening, on the banks of the river Yamuna, an aarti is performed for her. Yamunaji is worshipped as she provides water to all inhabitants of Mathura Vrindavan from time immemorial. She is revered as a mother. To be a part of this celebration, you have to be in Vrindavan at the evening, and when the sun is going down the aarti is done. If you have seen Ganga aarti, then it is similar but with one difference, not much crowd.
Five ways to make most of the Mathura Vrindavan trip:
1. Hire a Tirri/Tuktuk
The electric auto-rickshaw is called tirri/tuktuk in Mathura Vrindavan. You can hire them as only they are able to pierce through the narrow streets of vrindavan and while doing so, you won't miss a single view. They are cost-effective and fast, but they can last only for five hours or so. So you have to be efficient with your plans. Also their rates might go higher when their are more tourists than regular. So watch out for it.
2. Walking Distance
One of the best things about Vrindavan and Mathura is, that everything is within walking distance. If you are alone visiting these places, you might wanna walk to the temples rather than an auto. Be sure to know the shortcuts and you might be faster on feet then on anything else.
3. Car Rental Service
If you value comfort then I would suggest a car rental company as there are many traffic jams in Vrindavan and Mathura because of the heavy inflow of tourists. One of the trusted travel agency in mathura is Vaishnav tour and travels. You might wanna check with them before checking with anyone else. They have been here for more than a decade and there prices rarely fluctuate. So, you will get a good idea of rates while talking to any other agency.
